mapping my own samples so i can use them as midi

Post by insaneskate » Wed Feb 21, 2007 1:42 am

ok, I have a few instruments I want to sample, some drums, guitars and this really stupid sounding brass 'trumpet'. what I would like to do is record the wav files and then assign them to keys on my keyboard. im sure this is possible cos I see loads of wav sample packages floating around, and essentially all midi instruments are from samples, i just dont know how lol. thanks for your time!

Hi there,
I'm new around here so that's why the late reply.
I'd create an empty sampler then drag the wav into the sampler, do a little tweaking and when satisfied save the sampler patch.......
is this what you meant???

Cheers

All midi instruments are definitely not from samples.

you could also load your sounds into Live as clips and assign the clip slot to a key on your controller. Then you could trigger it whenever you hit the key.
