I was getting the same problem. The installer was looking to install the automap plugin in my user library instead of where my main system library where my "Components" and "VST" folders are.

I just created a "Components" folder in Users/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/, reinstalled the SL software and The AutomapUniversal Plug-in was created there, and works propperly,

EXCEPT...

It only recognizes AU plugs (not VST).

I sent them an email asking when it would support VSTs for Mac and they said sometime in the summer.

I was told by Novation that provided the VSTi plugin supports it that the display readout on the RemoteSL will now show relevant parameter text.
i.e if you're editing an oscillator which has a choice of 5 you'd see on the LCD screen the values 'square', 'sine', 'saw' etc. instead of just a number value.

Is this so?

That is so :D

Seems to be all working nicely here with Cubase sx3.1...

I can't locate the pot pickup bug (with Cubase anyway..) It seems to wait until the knob reaches the correct position..

Now we just need to let Novation know that we don't need the parameter readouts to display the value plus SIX decimal places 8O

Personally, I don't really need to know my parameter values to a millionth of a degree (especially on a parameter range of 0 - 127 ) plus it looks so noisy ...

The Pot Pickup issue arises (at least in Live) when you switch between different plugins and activate the 'A' on the newly selected plugin - if you then switch back and activate 'A' on the first plugin, the pots don't pickup, they jump to the transmitted value.

God knows whats going on with Vintage Warmer 2 (on Mac)
Its all over the place and unuseable in automap on template 38, but seems to work fine with automap selected in the normal Ableton template 40.
Extremely bizarre considering previously before automap universal I couldn't get it to work with midi learn through Lives own midi learn system.
This is with this weeks 2.01 update as well

quite surprised here.
didn't think (on a mac)
that it would be so useful, but being able to edit the map for each au (hopfully vst for mac soon)
is awesome,
yeah@!

I'm getting this too. I hope it is this isolated, and fixable. Otherwise this controller is still a double-edged sword.

well worth it!
even if it was no better than a midi box with a bunch of knobs, it would still be a great layout, that's why I bought it. Even withot automap, it makes me happy and feels nice. my 2sense.

Fab-o. Can't wait to test it out. I'm still a bit nervous about how it'll all integrate in the Live environment.

Anyone remember the original template Novation provided for controlling Live? This was before Live had RemoteSL support built in. I really liked that way of triggering / controlling Live session clips and adjusting levels/mutes. Made me feel like I was playing an instrument! Obviously didn't like the static nature of how the channel display data appeared on the SL. i.e. Being restricted to names like 'Track 1' 'Track 2'. I was hoping that once RemoteSL support was included in Live that that template would remain largely the same and allow for quick flip-flopping back and forth between this kind of template and specific templates for VSTi's.

I'm really hoping that some kind of similar setup can be achieved now but I suspect I'll be disappointed.

It'd be great to be able to start off with the template, select a channel on the SL by pressing say a 'record' button ALA as you do in Live, have a plugin popup on the computer and then the corresponding template load on the SL. Once you're done editing a quick keypress back to the Live template of choice.
How do other people see themselves integrating it into Live? I really want to have as few button pushes as possible and as much automation of template swapping. That seems only logical to me but I'm curious to see what others think.

I have a couple of issues with the AU Automap stuff. Most of the automapped plugins end up in one folder and not their own respective folders as with the un automapped versions. As they are not in folders on the actual drive this is a bit strange and don't know how to fix it. They all work fine in Logic though.

Also the automapped verison of Analog Factory doesn't show any GUI when you open it. But once you move the mouse over they start to appear. The un automapped version doesn't do this.

All in all it's better than before, but i still feel it doesn't work as well as it should.

You can hide the unautomapped versions of your plugins but only the VSTs.

Do you mean the wrapper around the GUI doesnt show? because i noticed this on AudioRealism Bassline. You should report this to Novation.

Another thing you can also do is dedicate the left hand side to plugin mapping and right hand side for Ableton control in a new template called (for example) Hybrid Automap.
Basically, it's a template with the left hand side portion 'stolen' from Template 38 and right-hand side from Template 40. You'd need to use the Editor to do this.
Hello, I would also like to have this kind of automap template. I tried to use the editor to copy and paste sections from each, to make the Hybrid, but it doesn't seem to work. Has anyone got this to work yet? If so, would they mind sharing the automap template?

Thanks!
