Well, as it seems altivec is not - as a G3 owner I am not to sad about it. Altivec should be more appropriate for the effects - reverb - than for the engine itself.
>>If I'm not mistaken, Altivec is only for the G4 chip, and would not help so much for >>G5s. If they did skip Altivec optimisation, that may be the reason.
I hope you do not mind if I correct you here. G5s have a altivec compatible engine - for full optimization some parameters may be different but they take advantage of altivec optimisation and put it even to a new level.

Alright Abletons, time to kill another rumor
Rumor: Live 4 will support multiple soundcards at once.
True or untrue?
Thanks
True or untrue?
Thanks
15" PB 2.5 Ghz, 4 Gig RAM, 750 GB HD, Live 9 still no cue points or program change messages?!?. Doesn't do shit.

:
"Supports previewing and cuing via separate audio outs"
Sounds like they at least will support seperate interfaces for cuing...
I don't know about inputs, maybe since it supports Core Audio there may be a way to trick it with 3rd party utilities?
Prolly not...

It would be nice to be able to use the stock headphone jack on my PB for Cueing/Prelisten, and get 2 extra outs for the Master on my Indigo DJ.Kodama wrote:Marcus/Bottom/Kabuki/CoWorker of Sophia:

I'm 99.999999999% certain I saw that it's now supported - but I can't remember where
I remembered because way back on live 2 I asked if you could do it
and they said no - so this time around I made a note of it - just wish I could remember where
As far as I know not one audio application can handle multiple soundcards of different types flawlessly 'cause you always will have big time sync issues and even if you solve it , it will be the lowest common denominator that will give you the [bad] latency ...
I've heard that with coreaudio multiple audiocards could be used , but I can't confirm this as I 'm no Mac user .
This issue has already been adressed a zillion time, and at several occasions people adressed the technical issues that make this a practically impossible task [though maybe only for WIndows users ] ... so doing a thorough search should open a lot of eyes.

that's probably all live needs to give it pre-listen - I'm sure you could get a good enough latency for pre-listening from direct sound or MME or whatever the mac version of slumming it isPorpy wrote:Logic only supports multi-soundcards with different driver types
ie - one ASIO, one direct I/O etc
