*challenge to self* - I just found out about this contest today (this afternoon). I will submit a mix by tomorrow evening.

Rapid development, whether you like it or not :)

The point is that 5 days can sometimes be too much time. Countless masterpieces have been done in single sessions.

Do I have the right "demo"?...when I try opening the "piano" and "synth rtythmic" it says I need Operator to proceed with them...I don't have Operator

I think you have the right demo. All the clips are mixed up...some require operator, and some just do fine with simpler. Not having Operator is usually a deal-breaker with respect to addon packs like Trackteam and Covert Operators.

One idea would be to go into demo mode with Operator, then resample the audio for the Operator tracks, but then you can't save your project, so you'd have to go back out of demo mode, and redo the work with the resampled files. Major PITA, needless to say.

oh well...good to know I have the correct demo...but that bites that I can't use the piano or rhythmic synth...this must be a a test of will to the assimilation of getting Operator :)

I failed that test a long time ago. I looked myself in the mirror, and I saw the fanboy that is me.

All clips that use Operator as the sound source have OPR after the BPM in the clip name. Also, as of now there are no instances of operator in any racks in the Modmachines demo or the full product.
Don't remember which operator piano patches are in the demo but the Operator Piano patches in the Fully are pretty bad a$$ if i must say so myself. We spent about a week or so just on them alone.

Just a "consumer" piece of advice...hopefully you won't take offense to this...I would recommend that your create "packages" that are for those who own Operator and those who don't...I wouldn't buy a product that included a bunch of Operator patches that I could never use...but might consider one that had a bunch of Impulse and Simpler stuff that I could use.

Challenge to self - ACCOMPLISHED. To all you pussies out there, YOU CAN DO IT...it's like a really bad case of constipation - just push hard and it'll come out!!

http://www.nebulae.com/normandy.mp3

Created with 5 tracks, all presets from the Modmachines demo. Healthy use of effects and other fun stuff. I did use a lot of Mike's work already done in the sequences...I figured that I wanted to do this song quickly and use the basic building blocks as a stepping stone. That's why they're there. I'm sure this could have been better and more interesting, but my goal was to get this done in a couple of sessions. Total work is probably about 3-4 hours, which is a testament to the abilities and inspiration within Mike's tools. Nice job, sir!

Anyways, enjoy it. Let me know when I win. :)

nice one nebulae, I especially like the section in the middle with more of a breakbeat feel. Good sounding squelchy bass in there too. :)

thank you thank you :)

If there's one thing I didn't find in the demo pack, it's a nice deep bass, so I compensated by EQing all the tracks, as well as the master chain to have more low end. So I suppose it's a Jennifer Lopez mix, so to speak.
