Effects that reqire midi note data

Hello
I have recently downloaded two free effect that require MIDI note data to be sent to them, one is a resonance synth that resonates incoming audio from another instrument and the other is a buffer synth, which simply takes a small portion of the incoming audio and loops it in relation to what note you press, depending on the speed is what frequency it will be played back as.

Does anyone use an effect like this, How do I send MIDI note on data to it to use it?
