Novation Remote SL drum pad quality

Hi, I was thinking about buying a remote zero, but was seeking info on the quality/responsiveness of the pads, to use them with impulse and Ezdrummer... anyone uses them?

They're horrible, too small, too rigid, just about usable until you get a decent pad controller.

yeah, if you need it for the drumpads, don't buy it.

for (almost) everything else, i really like it. very much.

The new Universal Automapping, apart from the odd niggle here and there, really is excellent - I was mapping a few plugins the other night and found it a joy to use.

Worst pads ever.
They seem to be useful only as toggles.

Has any of you got them working with midistroke or another keystroke to midi program??? i cant get it to work, i try setting them up as notes and cc's, and neither work...but it works on my padKontrol!!

don't listen to them, they probably have huge monkey hands which make it hard to hit smaller pads

And you can adjust the sensitivity of the pads to your liking.
I love mine and bought it mainly for the pads, and automap is the straight bannanas.

Do you really like the pads? They don't move even if you whack them, it's like hitting a lump of hard plastic with no responsive feedback.

Not necessarily...

Six of my pads are fine. But even on maximum sensitivity, two of them never get anywhere near 127.

Yeah exactly, there is no detent at all when you hit them.
Maybe they have to be broken in ? I dunno....

i find them to be a lot nicer than the pads on the korg microKontrol. not that that's saying much.

no, they don't move when you hit them, but they respond well in my opinion.

I've only discovered drumpads recently when i bought an axiom, i feel quite ok with those and i need a drum pad in my other studio. But automap really is something i'd like to enjoy, so i was wondering if a mpc or a padkontrol were "pad-dly" so much superior tahn the novation's.

I have to say the opposite. My microkontrol is an ergonomic delight. It took a day or two to break in but it's lovable. Ass-backwards to edit though. My sl-25 on the other hand is nonresponsive-like jamming your finger into a mossy rock. I'm not training in the martial arts over here! Aside from that the layout is right between all of your other junk and makes for a dangerous target. Paging William Tell over here!!!

As each stand I like 'em. They both have fairly disconcerting support. The microkontrol still is not officially UB (bitches) and the novation approach to fixing bugs is diverting from them with new features (and new bugs-coughbitchesahem).

What are you doing in Jersey man? Not as good air as Maine.

The pads are crap, I ended up using the keys for drumming. The pads are fine for location markers, triggering FX on or off, etc...

mine go all the way up fine,
I hear you all about the no "give" reality though.
To be honest they're not the best I've used, I just feel like they're far from a deal breaker considering the automapping etc.
The one thing I really don't like is not being able to manually control note off messages, sometimes I use longer drum samples but would like to be able to control how long or short the note is played by how long I keep pressure on the pad. maybe I'm missing something or maybe thats how all drum pads work?
