Help me with playing my VST instrument...

Hi, i need to start the Ableton Live as a host, and some VST... for example NI Accoustic Piano... but i can play with my Keyboard only in Rec mode in midi clip. But i need to start the VST and play it (or some synth.. and make patch for exmpl.) what should a do, to start doing this ? I need another program, or i need some right settings in Live ? (yes, i know that Acoustic Piano have standalone prog, but i need it in Live)

You should start live, launch the VSTi, then select in on the monitoring on the midi channel, then select the midi controller to control it, and play away.
