I've successfully installed my first VST (EZ Drummer) and it works great. I just downloaded Automat and want to install it but don't see a .vst file... why not? How do I install this one? Thanks....

automat is an AudioUnit file and thus only has a component and not a VST file.
This means it is only available for macs.

On a mac, place it inside Library/Audio/Plug Ins/Components (either in your User Library folder or in the main Library folder)
MBP 2.3 GHz i5, Live 9.6.1, Push, MPD32, Rane SL2
