usb uc33 midicontroller lost during liveset

Last weekend during a live set Ableton lost my UC-33 midicontroller connected via USB.

I am using a Macbookpro 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Ableton 6.01, Motu Ultralite and UC-33 Midicontroller.

During the set my Macbook synced another notebook via midi from Motu Ultralite.

Anybody had this problem before?
Or should i connect UC-33 via midi instead of USB?

The macbooks and macbookpros have a history of not providing enough power through its connections. I would start by either using a powered hub or powering the uc-33 directly.

Also, I'd upgrade my Live to a newer version. 6.01 was kind of buggy, and for most not suited for live performance at all...unless you have reasons not to upgrade, of course...
