Stable Mac Os X Tiger Version for a Powerbook G4

Post by djofonunez » Wed Mar 14, 2007 2:44 am

I was wondering which version of Mac OS X Tiger do you guys have that has given you no problems at all running ableton on a powerbook G4 Live.

I personally have opted for keeping 10.4.5 with Ableton 5.2.

I have never tried updating and going to try ableton live 6 this weekend at home. The above versions I have had no problems with at all.

What version are you guys using? Really afraid to update and then have problems in my live perfomance.

Thanks for your time,
Ofo

Yeah dont be afraid of updating osx to the latest minor update, the problems are due to poor maintenance or too much pissfarting behind the curtains, otherwise minor 3rd party apps.
MacBook Pro M3 Max, Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen, Ableton Move, LaunchPad Pro MK3, Behringer Edge, TecWav noise synth, Crank Sturgeon Plug Ugly contact mic, and oodles of effects pedals.

if you have any pace-protected plugins or apps I'd stay away from 10.4.9 for now. 10.4.8 is stable though.
mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.

so far as ive seen, or experienced with other intel systems,
the pace problem is intel based only,
no problem with the ppc.

What is the correct way of upgrading the Mac Os X system.

just click your little apple up in the corner, scroll to update software, and let it do its thing. You dont need to repair permissions for that, only after you have changed something manually and even then there are better ways of going about it than pressing the freakin repair permissions button in diskutil cause this could cause certain more things to not work (leave your library/prefrences and system/library/extensions/ and system/library/extensions.kextcache alone).
Dont worry, apple idiot proofs most things that everyone does, like update your system. just press the button watch it download and install and reboot.
