Are Mash-Ups tacky?

Post by womoma » Sun Mar 18, 2007 8:25 pm

A few of us over at ALDJ have been discussing this, so wanted to see what you guys think.

Are Mash-Ups tacky?

Theres shedloads of bootleg mash-ups online, and lots of them suck.
But the good ones, even the good ones, are they kool, or tacky?

What you think?

I liked them at first, but IMO they've gone the way of EQ kills, filter sweeps and trance...

The Grey Album was the only one I heard that was solid, but I'm not even sure if it qualifies?

When a KFC commercial has "Sweet Home Alabama" with scratching and heavy drums over it, you know it's dead.

I think that they can be entertaining, sometimes pretty funny, they can be an escape from being too serious about tracks, more about fun than musical masterpiece to me.
