problem with quantising midi

Hello there!

I have a question about quantising midi after you've recorded something in the arrangement window. When I play a song, push record (F9) on the fly and record a midi part the clip doesn't start exactly on a grid. After that when I want to quantise the notes in a clip, the quantising goes wrong, beacuse it quantises on the grid in the clip and not on the grip from the song. These are not the same cause the clip doesn't start on a grid. I cannot find a way to change the grid from the clip without moving the midi notes. Does anyone has a solution for this?

consolidate (Ctrl-J) the clip you just recorded

Thanks for the help Peeddroo. I think you mean that you have to make an empty clip before the one you recorded and then consolidate both? I have tried it and it works, so that's nice. But it doesn't speed up the workflow if you know what I mean, you have to do some extra things for something that should be really simple. Is there an easier way? Tips anyone?

you don't need to create a blank clip.
record in arrangement, select the whole range over which you've recorded, consolidate, you're done.

i agree that it's a bit tedious, but that's the most efficient way i found.

Thank you again Peeddrroo, that makes it at least a lot easier and workable! Now just for some time signature changes and Live is really usable for composing! I hope in version 7...
