Anyone using Motion Dive and Live on the same notebook ?
After watching some videos/ interviews of its creators and trying the flash demo I am considering buying it.
Just that salesman told me Motiondive is CPU hog. I am not sure if I should trust, he wants me to buy NuVj that didn't impress me too much - another plastic toy, not too professional
Motiondive is more musician/performance oriented would be nice not be use second notebook for it.
I would love to hear from anyone who actually uses it.

I have no experience of Motion Dive - I use Vidvox Grid, which is quite a basic VJ tool. But as a rule i'd probably suggest using a 2nd laptop to run your visuals. I have MacBook Pro and I've run Live and Grid on the same machine in the past but purely for arranging my sets - the visuals tend to get jerky pretty easily. If you're thinking of performing live, you'll need a 2nd laptop IMO.

Agreed.Machinate wrote:-and if you are planning on doing serious serious video live, you will want a tower with a good graphics card in it. A lot of the new vj apps use openGL quite extensively, and 9 out of 10 laptop gfx processors can't even begin to keep up.
I push my tower pretty hard with 3 instances of Live doing audio, lighting and video, and Arkaos VJ Rewired. I've also got three capture cards and a decent graphics card in it, and couldn't imagine having the same capabilities in a notebook... not just yet, that is...

IMO, You will need two computers. Even if you can get it to run on the same machine - don't.
I tried Motion Dive Tokyo, and IMO it is a piece of shit. I honestly get much more work as a VJ than I do a DJ, so I have a bit of experience in the field. If you are wanting something to work with Ableton, then go with Arkaos, because you can send your midi sequences to Arkaos and trigger visuals through rewire. It gives you the power to almost score out music videos ahead of time that you can remix realtime with different live cameras, visuals, and effects. For more on Arkaos, search for posts by the user "hambone"
My all time favorite visual software is resolume (which needs 2 computers to run with ableton). And, if you have two computers, you can sync the midi clocks so the visuals are perfectly in time.

Could you elaborate why, someone else could say same about Resolume or Arkaos, that does not help at all.ConsciousPilot wrote:

All 3 are software mixers, Motion dive has some extra functions that look interesting and sleek hardware . BTW The salesman told me that installing Motion Dive thrown his computer of the track, it couldnt even start after that.
I tried the 2 and liked Resolume most, advantage of Arkaos would be running it from same computer and the rewire. Is Resolume so cpu heavy that you must run it on separate computer ?
