Slave Midi Sync/delay Problem

Post by Brettmcpherson » Mon Mar 19, 2007 7:30 pm

Hi,
I've been using live for a few years now and just bought myself a Korg mx-1 drum machine and I am running it through an Ederol Fa-66 firwire. I'm on a G5 Imac and have the latest version of Ableton 6.

When I run the korg in sync to a clip in live, everything runs fine for a few minutes, until some popping and crackling starts, and gets worse and worse, till eventually the crackling goes, but then the korg is anyware from 50-100ms out of time to live and stays like this, until I restart live or restart my firwire.

I'm sure this isn't my latencey, have tried everything with this.
Is this something to do with the midi dalay setting? I adjusted the main midi delay setting in the preferences to run in time but I get this problem.
Should I only be using the track delay to adjust the korgs delay or the main one in the preferences?? Whats the diference between the two?

Any Ideas please. I'm pulling my hair out.....

B

There is a known problem with MIDI sync.
I recommend to anyone using gear with a clock to use the hardware clock as the master. Ableton live has issues sending clock, but it slaves very nicely.

Hi Eddy,

I don't doubt about your problems and others', and these are investigated and have a high priority, but at the same time, I say again that it is not such a 'general' issue and that we should not jump to conclusion to fast: for instance, I was supporting Brettmcpherson via email, and it turned out that his problem came from the fact he was using one sound card for the audio input, and another one for the audio output, and these lost sync, but it is their audio drivers that lost sync, after some time.

Now he wrote back to me that everything was fine. I just though of letting you know. And once again, your issues are taken very seriously.
