Recording Midi CC data for external synths?

Post by composerguy78 » Fri Mar 23, 2007 7:04 am

HI All,

So I have a virus b and I would like to record the filter automation. However, when I go into record mode in arrange view or in Session view, it overwrites the track deleting the notes. and the overwrite button is off.

I know this is obvious, but I can't seem to find a solution. It seems easy to record automation for an object or fader in Live but external midi seems not so well supported.

Thanks

Felix

I don't use arrangement view, but here's a guess(it's been a while):
It's not the "overwrite button" but the "overDUB" button. If you don't want to erase notes, overWRITE, then leave it on.

The process of overdubbing is more thoroughly explained in the manual, natch'.
So yes, external midi IS well supported (except for sysex, program change recording etc;) )
mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.
