I have a problem with the arrange view in video mode

Post by G3oW0RK » Thu Mar 29, 2007 11:04 am

Hello,

My name is Geoffrey, and this is my first post. I'm taking the opportunity to launch a new thread concerning a true problem i'm handling actually in ableton live. There may be a solution, and i guess that some of you have it.

I'm a deejay, and i'm working with videos acapellas. The fact is that the video acapella is only working in arrange mode due to the video. This is not a problem as long as i'm not starting to loop an acapella.

In arrange mode, when i'm doing a loop, the play bar keep going on, and this is a problem because in this case because my loop can't be infinite. When the play bar arrives to the end of the file, the sound + video stop to play. This is a real problem for me as i'm often using loops when mixing and i would like to keep this even when in video mode.

So the question is, do you have a solution? :)

Merci d'avance,
Geoffrey.

Bonjour,

In arrangement, you can too set the clip to loop, as in session, and then 'expand' it by dragging its right edge to make it longer, so that when it is finished it will start over. Or, you can make an arrangement loop, you will still be able to play session clips as you wish.

Hello Amaury,

Thank you for your answer. The first solution you gave me is working. Now a problem still on the way. When i'm going out of the loop, the acapella don't continue where the loops start... it's far over... like i do a loop for 10 seconds, when i'm resuming play, it's 10 seconds forward. Do you have a solution for this? Maybe the second solution you gave me is the correct one, but i don't get the point of it :(.

Kindly,
Geoffrey.

Hi,

Obviously, if the length of your video is not a multiple of the length of your clips, sync will be lost when either of the two will loop.

The other solution I proposed is to set a global loop in Arrangement so the Arranger playback loops, while you can still use the Session clips and their own loop settings.

The global loop is located in the transport bar.
