Yes,Plug-in buffer size i do have it As Audio Buffer.

im having issues with people in apple stores generally. and it wasnt even the one in london.

the ram in my ibook isn't from apple, it was just some off the shelf stuff from a consumer electronics shop. i can't remember what, it was like three years ago. check with your manual what precise kind you need, write it down and get it from any shop. my brother got some from pc world for his imac recently and it was fine. apple stuff is designed for it to be a peice of piss to install your ram.

don't just test how many clips you can run. also try fx on each channel aswell - put loads of reverbs on there (set to "first class"). post up what you kind of percentages get - i'd like to know, because i really need a new laptop. i'm wondering how much difference there is between the 1.83ghz and the 2.0ghz macbooks.

i like apple products on the whole, but don't even get me started on fucking smurfs who work in apple stores. i can't fucking stand those places. all these messenger bag wearing tools praying to the altar of bono's ipod. fuck that noise.

though i do own a messenger bag.

how do you set it to first class? and what do you mean by fixing it on each channel.

id like to know the difference between 500 mb and 1 gb ... theres a 100 euro difference but obviously that apple guy couldnt or wouldnt tell me what affect it would have on djing with live6

I bought a refurb version 1 Blackbook a couple of weeks ago.Came with 1gb (2x 512) RAM and 80gb HD.Runs 25 audio tracks and half a dozen Microtonics on Live 6 at about 35 %.I'm not a student but money's a bit tight at the moment so I can't afford to upgrade the RAM or HD so if necessary I'll bounce tracks.Couldn't be happier with the machine, I tried a Macbook Pro but actually prefer the Blackbook.

If money's tight and your machine is struggling just upgrade one of the 256s to 512, you'll notice an improvement.Although 2gb RAM and a 7200 HD would be nice you don't actually NEED it to create music.

...or maybe he wasn't running 5.2 universal binary at all. I have a very hard time believing a brand new Macbook would have problems with anything more than a single audio track even without multi core support. Regardless of RAM.

not sure what the actual differnce between 512 and 1gb, but 512 is pretty widely accepted as not enough, ie, you're running into ram issues more than cpu issues, i imagine. i expect it's like buying a new car without 4th or 5th gear. i'd just get it.

you set reverb to "first class" (better sound quality, more cpu) from the drop down menu in the centre of each reverb's interface. it might not be called "first class" any more, it might be "high" or something. check the reverb section in the manual.

Hey I've got something similar (specs below) & I'm finding once I've played enough audio files to fill up my R. A. M. Live will hang momentarily when I trigger an audio file. Not all the time - it might happen once in a 2 hour set.. not sure why this is... maybe it clears the R. A. M. the first time it fills up or something, or it switches over to using virtual memory

the only thing I'm not sure about is whether this is a result of my R. A. M. or the virtual memory filling up, because I only ever keep about 1 Gb of hard disc space spare as I wanna keep as much music on there as possible
