Ok, right off the bat I am gonna ask forgiveness with my ignorance of Live.
Ok, here is what I CAN DO:
Fire off clips with my external hardware sequencer. Add efx, assign midi channels, outputs, save sets, etc. Just the basic meat and potatoes stuff.
Here is where i'm getting my ass kicked. Sampler! Ok, after finding it daunting and way more evil than my Akai's back in the day. I've managed to play an audio clip via a midi file and tweak a few things here and there. Big deal right? Anyways, can I take advantage of Sampler's LFO's (3!, baby), while using an external hardware sequencer? Or, ultimately, it will never work like that? For example a soft sampler such as Emu's Emulator X2? I NEED those LFO's, but I don't want to resort to using midi files saved on the hardrive off my laptop. I'm talking live sequencing going to Ableton triggered externally. Using Live just as basically laptop sampler if you will.
So basically Abletonfor my needs is just a fancy sampler and nothing more. I know most of you use it in different ways, but for me, I just need to fire live clips via my hardware sequencer. But I'm not sure if in the way I use it, i'll be able to take advantage of Sampler and all those LFO's without resorting to using midi files. I don't use midi files to trigger audio clips. I don't really want to either. It's just like a drummer with a laptop running Live using electronic pads to trigger his clips. But all he wants now is to see if he can dig into Sampler and it's modulation capabilities? (hence the fact that he's his own "sequencer", and not relying on midi files to trigger his clips)
Any feedback regarding this oddball question?
thanks in advance

Should be possible.
One thing, though - dunno which sequencer you used, but I used to sync my Electribe S to Live, and trigger clips in Live from that. It didn't always work, as the Electribes clock was a bit wobbly and it's timing would sometimes be slightly off, meaning notes arrived to Live late.. Since clips in Live can only be quantised forward in time (the time machine will be an option for Live7, though), sometimes a note would fall a sixteenth out unless I turned quantisation off..
It does work, though, and you can use Sampler fine. Just try everything twice before you take it on stage.

Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

I'm using the Schaltwerk. It's rock dead solid timing. No latency whatsoever. My issue isn't hardware syncing to Live. I've got that
down pat already. My issue is implementing Sampler in my live triggering setup that i'm doing.
I think this may be a user issue the more I think about it. ie, me! I don't
have Sampler down at all. I'm clueless at this point on how to use it. Yeah I can jump through the tabs and see it all there. BUT how I actually fire off a clip from Sampler with my Schaltwerk is beyond me at thoe mo.........
It doesn't make sense to me.
crap, this is blueballing me too. I want to tweak those LFO's. damnit
