Smallest midi keyboard?
Smallest midi keyboard?
What is the smallest midi keyboard out there?
With my daughter being born in less that three weeks, I'm not going to have much time for my pittiful attempts at making music. Since I work on Sunday's and it's usually a pretty slow day, it'd be a perfect time to get some music making in. The only problem is I can't walk into work with a midi keyboard. It'd be great if I could find a tiny one to smuggle in.
My Korg microKontrol is too big. An M-Audio Oxygen8 is a bit too big too. There's gotta be one even smaller.

i travel a lot and got tired of lugging around (and worrying about) my m-audio ozone, so i got this for $35 used:
http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/eKeys37-main.html
it's great. i've been throwing it in my checked baggage for the last 2 years and haven't had a problem yet. the only limitation is that it has no velocity sensitivity. also, i spray painted it black to get rid of the ugly.
it's a little long for a briefcase, but will slide into a backpack no problem.

M-audio o2....the edges are a bit more rounded than the PCR-M1, and it's a bit lighter, and shorter. had no problems throwing it in my backpack for many road trips. cheaper than the PCR too.

Ultimately I've more or less ended up going this route too. If you need a really portable solution, it's by far the easiest route.timothyallan wrote:or just use the qwerty keys on your laptop

Have you seen the garagekey?Verbal wrote:The PCR-M1 looks like it might be the winner.
Anyone know of any others? There would probably be a huge response to a small midi keyboard. Maybe I should design one.
