Why is there so much delay/latency from my axiom 49 midi device to abelton? What can i do to fix it?

It's more likely your soundcard that is causing latency. Do you have ASIO drivers? If not check out www.asio4all.com

yes - or if your card has specific ASIO drivers, get the most recent one from the wesbite of your audio card maker. I aim for 128 buffers or less if possible recording audio or MIDI but 256 buffers is usually OK or even direct monitoring if it starts to become a problem. If you are recording fast, complex material though you'll want to make these adjustments otherwise the MIDI recording experience will suck a$$ (trying to do a Rick Wakeman or CHick Corea solo etc)

USB/Firewire Midi will add a few ms of latency compared to MIDI built into a PCI card. For the most part, if you set your audio latency as low as it can go it's not usually much of a problem but there's always MIDI note editing or lite (1/64 etc) quantization that will tidy this up.
