I moved my gear out of my cramped studio into a room with a TV, usually it's just background noise for ear fatigue, sometimes Live ends up being background noise. Then there's the wireless card on the computer... lots of distractions. I don't like basball but it's nice to put on in the background, fewer commercials, no need to change the channel as much, no need to pay attention. Usually Discovery, Comedy Central or some movie.

Family Guy is quite a funny TV programme.

I turned the TV off at around (when I started this thread) say...10 am PST

now it's 4:51pm pst
1st thing I did was start mixing mp3's in Torq to pass the time

then

we went to the beach (washington beach) with some animals (dogs)

then I spent about 2 hours at the golf course (short game you know)

now....................ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhahahahahahaahaaaaaa

I'm sitting down, the TV IS OFF and I'm like what do i do know - we have a dvd to watch

I think I'm going to warp some unwarped tracks and make an Ableton mix

then what?????

I just want to get over my addiction to TV -

First few days are the toughest. Golf more. Play a little ping pong too.

American Dad is quite good too, but I prefer Family guy.

what about SBS? and ABC?

I agree about the commercial stations (although some shows like House are good - plus of course the Simpsons, but channel 10 destroy both of those with more commercials than are humane

I definitely miss UK telly, but the point is you dont need to be stuck indoors here

but dude, sbs! abc! both have plenty of quality stuff

mythbusters - nuff said

but on the whole I only have about 3 or 4 programs a week I watch

I too am weening myself of the amazing time waster that is the internet

Well, now it's the end of the day and I must say the energy of the day was much better

things don't feel so hostile - I'm going to try and read a book and go to bed

I have all these tribal cd's I've been meaning to listen to and my girl gave me a good book to read

but I think I'm going to jam in ableton first for a minute

but I can fell the TV staring at me...

Since a big breakup with a TV addict a few years ago I've watched..... two F1GPs, and a few hours of cricket.

Last time I wanted to turn it on I had to disassemble my TV and clean the dust off the degaussing coil, lest I get that crackle *POP* followed by a funny smell and no operational TV.

I read books, I code, I cook, I go out and socialise (one big thing I hate about Sydney, noone wants to socialise on "school nights"). I jam. I try to teach myself how to make music. I go for a ride on my motorbike.

I don't read newspapers either. I rarely hang out in forums (this place is becoming a bit of an exception to that).

My life just feels better for staying away from all that crap!

i havent watched regular programming especially sitcoms for quite a few years now.

the tube only gets turned on to have something in the background during dinner or saturday & sunday mornings is nice to wake up to random video clips.

I gave up TV back in 1994. That decision has been without a doubt one of the best I've ever made. When Tracy and I got married back in September I watched a lot of Law&Order with her, and soon grew sick from it. Seriously, TV is bad for your mind. We got a ton of stuff from Blockbuster online...if I want something from TV, I rent it. Much better.

It's indescribable the feeling of joy from overhearing a conversation about TV, and I have no clue what they are talking about. I have never seen a single episode of American Idol...I barely even know what it is. I havent seen a single reality show. Ever. I didnt know who Anna Nicole was until she died. Life is good!

Instead of wasting my life, I write music, read, spend time with friends, cook food, learn new software, build my own business, etc... I feel its a good trade.
