Question: rack for quick sample swapping on PadKontrol?
Question: rack for quick sample swapping on PadKontrol?
I want to build a rack to use for PadKontrol and my drum samples so that I can quickly change drum sounds using the setting knob on the padKontrol. for instance:
c2,c#2,d2,d#2,e2,f2,f#2,g2,g#2,a2,a#2,b2 = 11 different kicks
c3,c#3,d3,d#3,e3,f3,f#3,g3,g#3,a3,a#3,b3 = 11 different snare drums
c4,c#4,d4,d#4,e4,f4,f#4,g4,g#4,a4,a#4,b4 = 11 different cymbals/perc
c5,c#5,d5,d#5,e5,f5,f#5,g5,g#5,a5,a#5,b5 = 11 different sound fx
anyone have something like this setup for their padkontrol (or triggerfinger)
I saw a demo video of pK with Battery, and this was the way you could change drum sounds on battery, so it inspired me to try to do the same for Live.
I am wondering would I need to use scale and/or pitch effect to make the sample play at their orignal pitches with simpler?

I tried to figure out the same thing, but I gave up and bought Battery 3. Way worth it. You then can just setup different scenes within your PadKontrol and switch them to get different drums. My goal was to get Live to work like an MPC. I didn't want to sit with my mouse switching settings, so with Battery I can setup drums and samples the way I want to. If you're interested in Battery, I accidently won 2 auctions on ebay and should be getting another copy today. I only paid 120 for it and I just want to get what I paid.

Search for MPC Killer on the forum. Someone built a rack with several impulses layered cromatically. Maybe you can do what you want with it.

I don't know if it's the same process as that guy on you tube, but I set up 4 sets of 16 cells (64 cells with different samples or some assigned to multiple notes) in Battery all assigned to different notes. 4 scenes on the PadKontrol are assigned to the cells and I just switch scenes to get the different samples, like switching scenes on an mpc. I wish I could assign the scene switch on the Padkontrol to the dial knob, but maybe somebody knows how to do that. But it's pretty easy and only takes a bit of time to set up the samples, but you have to have each scene on the PadKontrol assigned to different notes unless you want it to control the same sample on more than one scene. I hope this process works for somebody other than myself.

I set up my trigger finger with this and now have 8 banks of 16 beat samples on 8 presets, all in one rack...

i do it differently
i have a channel with simplers in 2 racks (1 for fx 1 for the sample) stacked via chains.
for that channel i have two dummy clip channels
one controls the chain select for the rack which chooses which simpler i use and one which controls the chain for the effects on that channel.
16 of those and it's an MPC and an MPC killer killer
