Axiom 25 Can't load Ableton Presets
Axiom 25 Can't load Ableton Presets
hello,
I'm trying to get my Axiom 25 to work w/ Ableton Live 5.2 running on an Intel-Mac OSX 10.4.9. I noticed that my drum pads weren't working in impulse for any of the drum pads. I tried to follwo the axiom tutorial for live, and it says that i need to select the Axiom 25 from the Control Surface selector under MIDI/Sync preferences, and then select Dump to load the ableton presets into presets 18-20. However, the Axiom doesn't show up in the control surfaces.
Does anybody know why this is happening? Or is there anyway to get those presets and i could load them in using Enigma?
Thanks for the help

Re: Axiom 25 Can't load Ableton Presets
no answer, just that i am having the same problem (or similar, with my axiom49 it is the transport and drumpads which do not get loaded).ajwalters wrote:hello,

novation automap info
check out novation's automap universal guide...
they take you through adjusting the REmote to control impulse.
your issues are based on a common problem of LIVE's cc/midi-note template for impulse.
you'll need to adjust what notes the pads on your axiom trigger.
this novation guide for LIVE should give you the proper info, but adjust according to your controller
-----------------------------------
HOW TO TRIGGER IMPULSE FROM THE REMOTE SL DRUM PADS
On the Ableton Live Automap template the drum pads are, by default, mapped to MIDI notes C1-G1.
Impulse’s samples can be triggered using the notes
C3, D3, E3, F3, G3, A3, B3 and C4.
Therefore to trigger Impulse from the ReMOTE SL drum pads you must change the note values that the drum pads send out. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Press and hold the ‘edit’ button and hit the drum pad whose settings you want to change, then release the ‘edit’ button.
2. Set the Note parameter to the new value.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all other drum pads.
4. Press ‘write’ 3 times to save the settings and then ‘play’ to return to play mode.

You hear, but do you listen?
If your axiom isn't showing up in any of the MIDI preference menus then there could be a problem with your hardware or software.
As for setting it up:
Select Axiom Classic / Axiom in 1 / Axiom out 1 in MIDI preferences.
Click the "DUMP" button.
The screen of your Axiom should show "SYS" during the transfer.
Select your preset and go. I believe that preset to use the Impulse pads is "18". I think that you can use Enigma to program the beast with a custom template. I don't have any experience with that software at this point.

Im actually having some strange issues with my axiom 49 and trying to use the 'ableton as a control surface" template as well. My axiom is showing up as the Axiom 49 / 61 Classic for the input and output in the midi sync preferences, ALSO you need to make sure you turn on the REMOTE surface listed further down for the axiom. ( i hope that makes sense ) .If your axiom isn't showing up in any of the MIDI preference menus then there could be a problem with your hardware or software.

I am also though having some issues, when i click the dump button, i get no SYS message on the axiom, however it appears that the presets 18-20 are working somewhat. Impulse is mapped and the sliders ( on the 49 version ) do seem to control the track volumes...HOWEVER ...
I am unable to use the rotarys as they work in reverse, meaning if i select a device ( i.e. putting the hand icon on it ) and turn a rotary to the left, the dial on the device turns to the RIGHT. also I cannot, and i repeate CANNOT seem to figure out how to use the drumpads to switch the banks around like you are supposed, everytime i try, it just plays a note.
So im sorta giving up on that axiom template, and think im just going with the ctrl M method for now.....

This is what's bothering me...the axiom does NOT show up in the Remote control surfaces "Control Surface" section...so i cannot hit DUMP ever. The axiom does work...i just can't "dump" the presets to it w/ abletonSelect Axiom Classic / Axiom in 1 / Axiom out 1 in MIDI preferences.
Click the "DUMP" button.
The screen of your Axiom should show "SYS" during the transfer.

es, that does not seem to be right. I have the Axiom 25. I don't know if that would make things different except for having different sliders and things like that. It took me a few tries to sort out the setup using the Ableton tutorial, but after that I haven't had any problems.
Possible issues:
Drivers, hardware, software...probably other things as well. I would say that if you are not seeing the "SYS" message on the LCD there is definitely a disconnect somewhere.
Have you downloaded the Axiom tutorial from Ableton? I believe this is key as it makes the presets available to you. Don't give up. I like the Axiom quite a bit as a controller. Much nicer than any other M-Audio stuff I've had before. It is pretty versatile.

Well, there are no drivers for the mac...so no, i haven't installed them, cause there are none. I'm using the Axiom 25, and i have used the ableton tutorial pakc. But like i said, the first step is to select it as a Control Surface, which i can't.
Also, the Axiom does show up as an Active Device in the MIDI/Sync tab...just not in the Remote control surface.
Does anybody have the Enigma preset bank for the Axiom 25 that has had presets 18-20 configured by live? If you could email me this, i would be VERY grateful!!
Thanks

the presets to use the axiom as a control surface in live is dictated by live, there is no enigma preset that you can use to drop it. This is due to the fact that in theory you are supposed to be able to switch banks for whichever control surface you have brought forward.
So no, no enigma preset for using live as a control surface as it is specific to live and Lives midi dump. I tried to dump from live then upload back into enigma and that didnt yield any results, as i was trying to change the midi controller values for the rotaries....
ctrl m will be your friend.....
