No audio when rendering to disk

Post by sporkles » Thu Apr 05, 2007 10:29 pm

I'm trying to render a loop to disk, but when I try to play back the rendered file, there's no audio. If I render all the tracks separately instead, they do contain audio. What am I doing wrong? It says in the manual that "if you're monitoring the master output" the rendered file will be exactly what you hear when playing it back in Live, but as far as I can tell, the manual doesn't mention anything about how to monitor the master out. I thought that would be on by default. Any ideas?

Hi,

True, by default, tracks output to the Master track. When you listen to the track, in Live, can you see the Master track activity? Is the volume of the Master track up?

Yes, I can see activity on the master track - the volume is up, and all my tracks' outputs are routed to the master. There is a tiny 'pop' at the very beginning of the rendered file, but after that, there's only silence. Like I said, if I choose to render "all tracks", the separate tracks do contain audio, so I'm really in the dark here...

Hi,

Do all the separate tracks contain audio? I would suspect one of the plugins you use not to be able to render in not-real time.

As a workaround now, you can render your track in real time by recording the output of the MAster track as a new audio clip, on an additional track for which you set the input to 'resample'.

Let me know if you find out anything about plugins.

Thanks! That solved it - when I deleted the track that was using the VSTi called Cygnus, the file was rendered correctly. I find it a bit strange that one VST would cause a problem with the entire file, but if it didn't, I'd probably go nuts trying to figure out why that one track vanished from the render. =)

Cheers!
