audio latency when recording

Post by mique » Sat Apr 07, 2007 3:09 pm

hi folks,

this is my first post!

i am having latency problems when recording vocals into live, i have followed the softwear lessons and for latency compensation and i still seems to be getting slight delay in signal.

these are my current settings:

buffer size 512 samples
imput latency: 11.6
output latency 11.6
driver error compensation 0.00
overall latency 23.2

and the set-up im using:

LIVE 6.5
MBOX 1
mac osx 10.3.9
867 MHz processor
1GB Ram

any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

If you can go lower on your buffer setting that will probably help. Personally I can't work with more than 256. I really start to notice it after that.

thanks for the help, but the buffer setting doesnt go to 256, the lowest setting seems to be 512 samples.

does it allow direct input monitoring?

If so, choose this. You won't be able to hear any onboard FX while recording as it directly routes back to the soundcard input but will significantly reduce latency. You can turn it off to after recording back to process the mix using fx etc.

Your system is a little underpowered to be running lots of audio at low latency, this might be why the mbox is only allowing 512 samples (I usually use 128 or 256 in Live, in Reason 2.5 I can use 64 or 128 samples no trouble)
