They are modular so you can buy a small one, then buy more walls as you want to make it bigger. Mine is 8 1/2' x 7'. It's inside my bedroom. They aren't cheap, I got mine from a guy on eBay for half of what it cost new. But the fact that I can play as loud as I want in my Manhattan apartment at 3 o'clock in the morning is so amazing I could cry.
those are so sick. I have wanted and needed one for so long but come up a few extra grand short. I wonder what the results would be of building your own? my firend is a master woodworker, i am going to ask how possible and for how cheap. I am sick of working under cans all the time.

cheers for you.

This is my in-house mini-studio. Great for just coming home and messing around :) The lemur is the latest addition.

The loungeroom is full of the DJing setup... no photos of that at the moment because I haven't rebuilt it since the last gig

Latest set up with my new gear:

Note that when I actually do DJ sets, the decks get placed in another room and the laptop goes on the DJ table. The laptop stays in the corner for most studio work.

Proudly showing off Logic I see. Were you the one that just bought that? Working out well?

That's a beautiful room by the way. Wish I had that much space.

tarekith, the stuff hanging up on your walls, what is that used for? Is it for soundproofing, well obviously not total soundproofing, but sound deadening if you will. to cut down on the noise going to other rooms or whatever? If so how effective is it and how expensive?

My wife and I just bought a house and the basement is mine for my studio/creative play area. I looked into sound proofing but it seemed just way to expensive and too much of a pain in the ass to implement.

Acoustic Treatment - Making a room sound good
Sound Proofing - Make sound stay within a room

The latter being what you're after. AKA floating floors
double walls, heavy expensive bitch. Those things on
Tarekith's walls is Acoustic Treatment.

Thank Jan.

Yeah, it's really difficult to sound PROOF a room, and expensive. I just learned to play my monitors quieter.
