maybe I'm just retarded.
if they gave presets with it maybe it would be more usable.
I agree with what you said, and once felt as you do, but give it some patience, as it's now my dblue Glitch replacement for Mac.
There's a great video of it here:

wow, I cant believe no one beat me to the Instajungle. there is no fancy GUI but I use that on a send/return more than beatrepeat. there is also the "Buffer Override" I think from destroy effects, One of the smartelectronix guys, that can achieve a cool stutter whith a long syncable buffer, Another classic.

I love buffer override! Hopefully they'll port it to Universal Binary some day...

REAKTOR has all the nice GLEX stuff which is kind of beat repeat but a bit weirder.. and nicely has a 'trigger' key which only works when you hold it down...

for slicing/reorder/stutter things the iosplonki is def. my favorite
tool. (i barely touch beatreapeat). Ioplong from smartelectronix
has done a fantastic job on this (his other stuff is also recommended).
It's donationware - means that you can use it free with a little nagscreen
when it starts, or make a donation.
