I mean all praise is duly deserved. This is exactly the kind of electronic music I'd want to do...the drummer is synced with the audio noises, and everything is so tight. Sounds both organic and other-worldly all at once. You guys are the shit, brutha! I want backstage passes when you do your world tour (and I'll take sloppy seconds on all groupies).

I will tell you the HONEST truth about what I thought about your UTube clip.

The drummer was great and made it worth listening to, but the so called music he was playing along to was not that impressive. In fact very boring. With all the equipment I saw, that was all that you could muster up? A bunch of bleeps and bloops that anyone with a copy of the free version of Acid could come up with. There was no real musicianship nor display of any mastery of tools of your trade, while the drummer showed who is boss of their instrument.

To my ears it lacked content and was repetitive drivel. Just a sporadic use of a few bloopy sounds and some hits. Believe me, my 12 year old nephew who isn't that good with a free copy of Acid could do better.

No doubt you won't take my comments too well and will maybe retort with a few insulting remarks or accuse me of not "GETTING IT", but I am giving you my honest SUBJECTIVE opinion and nothing more than that. I am not having a dig, just telling you how I see it. Before you get all insulted and resort to abuse, just remember that when you put up "a work" for public scrutiny, it' open to all comments and criticism. So take the good and the bad.

The Drummer though was pretty good.

i must say that this is close to what i would say (maybe a little less harsh).
note that i'm very picky when it comes to IDM. a lot has already been done, and you have to be VERY creative to make this kind of music IMO.

but andreas agreed that he should do more. a couple of clip launching and filtering isn't enough.
there's got to be more musical elements, it looks a bit like a drumming demo. good demo though.

Well, in all fairness it kinda *is* a drum demo, Mikkel has a e-drum sponsorship at Roland and all.

That kind of depends on the audience, too. This was more or less the entire staff of Roland Denmark;-) They were all tech-geeks. (by the way, my rig for "normal" non-showcase use is this more spartan one:

Anyone who knows me knows that I am not afraid to take musical chances - Peeddrroo was one of the guys that saw me play my very first real test run of the Schaltwerk emulation I did with maxMSP/Lemur - Live. At Ableton HQ.

This, our first gig together, with important people present, was definitely on the safe side for me.

I've been debating this issue a lot with myself recently, and I've more or less come to the decision to do more step sequencing, more real-time looping and more live midi in my sets. Hence I've also just about concluded that Ableton Live just doesn't do what I want it to do for live shows anymore. I might be ditching loop-based music altogether in the near future. I've been working "covertly" on a replacement performance rig in MaxMSP, but it is taking me a while, due to other commitments.

do you have any 'grooveboxes' ? or will you still keep it CPU based ?

OMG, stop this tripe immediatly. Don't you dare fucking apologize for that performance. It was excellent in most respects, and you get even more praise for having the balls to post the video. I'd like to see any of these other boobs recreate such a performance.

Now no performance is beyond critique, but the last thing I want to hear is you taking any of these comments to heart. Puhleaze! It was awesome, and that's that. Fuck the rest.

you could definately notice that you we're holding back..
the set was kind of unbalanced in terms of your drummer getting all the attention..
but I guess it can be quite hard to get even with a live drummer..
I went to a (Chris) Clark concert a month ago..
He had a live drummer there as well..
Guess who got all the attention..? It didn't quite balance either..
Also because he wasn't really 'working' his laptop..
