playback delayed when track is armed

Post by peeddrroo » Tue Apr 10, 2007 1:18 pm

i think i already posted this bug, but can't find the thread:
when using kontakt with multiple midi channels (and having a single midi track per kontakt instrument), i experience a (big) delay when the track is armed and PDC is activated.
if i unarm the track or switch off PDC, the playback is ok.

i don't know if ths is because i have multiple midi tracks, i just mention it because this is the case.

Hi,

How are your tracks routed to the Kontakt track? Are they routed the the track's input, or to Kontakt directly, in the second drop-down menu of the MIDI to?

You can post a screen shot of your session, it could be easier to see all this.

Also, tell me about your use case: what do you want to achieve? Some routings can included all delay compensation to the input, whereas it is normally shut off on a track you are recording to.

best,

the idea is to be able to play several kontakt instruments, with several outputs.
so i create a midi track with an instance of K2, and then several midi tracks that output to the K2 track ("midi to" -> K2 track and then in the 2nd dropdown list, i choose the K2 midi channel i want), then i create audio tracks, with "audio in" set to the K2 track, and in the 2nd dropdown i choose the other K2 outputs, and set monitoring to In.

if i arm one midi track playing a K2 instrument and PDC is on, i have a big delay, whether playing on my keyboard or launching a clip. the delay isn't heard if i unarm the track or switch off PDC.

it seems to me that this wasn't the case with L5, and i'm not sure i have this 100% of the time. but i do have it in front of me right now.
don't have much time to chase bugs though, sorry.

Hi,

True. It is the same in Live 5. The fact is that the track that is monitored has delay compensation turned off. But if you route the instrument track to another audio track, it is not the case.

I have no proper solution for now, but record the data with no audio routing from the plugin for that program (unconvenient at the least).

The problem is known though, so we can expect a better situation in the future. BTW, it should happen all the time, not only sometimes.
