Split a set into tracks
Split a set into tracks
How do I split say an hour long set that I've just done into 10 individual tracks so its easy for people to listen to.
Thanks,
Neil

to join selected parts at a track there is a function (strg/cmd + J).
so maybe you can select the parts you like divide/join..
To devide long Tracks I have also following suggestion:
• cut the tracks at a certain point
• right click first part of clip (in arrangement or in sample view) call 'truncate sample' (or something like this, de:"Sample stutzen")
-> Live writes a copy of this part into the path (XP): %project folder%/Samples/processed/Crop
• then do the same with the other parts of tracks
Maybe you want rename the samples (inside Live possible) before burn.
hope it answers your question.

I use WaveLab for that - I have the free version (Wavelab lite). You can import your set from Live (you have to render it out as a WAV file in Live), and then cut'n paste in Wavelab at the exact point when you want to split the tracks. For each cut, select the area that makes track N, cut it and paste in a new track, and save. Repeat until there is nothing left to cut in the set!
Not saying thats the best way but it works fine for me

If you are going to post the set online, leave it as one file.
If you are going to make CDs for your friends, on PC one of the best options is to invest in Sonic Foundry CD Architect. Well worth the money. About ~$100 but worth the investment if you plan on making CDs for people for any amount of time.
If you have Nero, you can also do it easily.
If you're on a Mac some others on here can give you some suggestions.

You sure can. An alternative to splitting the tracks, is to use the selection bar at the top for each track. Set the bar for the first track, render, then set it for the second track, render...and so on. Then just burn the tracks onto a CD using "disc at once" with 0 second delay between tracks.beats me wrote:I haven't actually tried this yet but assumed it would work.
If you had an hour or so single track in arrangement view couldn't you just add split points where you want them and then render the individual tracks?
You could do splitting, but then there might be issues of not crossing on a zero axis...and on top of there, there are extra steps. The easiest way to do this is to use tools that let you insert track markers, like Sound Forge, CD Architect, and even full versions of Nero.
Open up the giant 1-hour wav file, then insert CD track markers where you want, then burn it.

i use audacity wav editor for that. like said above, i take the set as 1 big wav file and chop it manually.
1 - cut out track
2 - paste track into new window
3 - zoom in and do a very very tiny 'fade in' and 'fade out' at each end of the track
4 - save/export track as its own wav file
5 - repeat for rest of tracks

if you have nero and want to burn to a CD the easiest way is to use a cue file....
make a new folder... put the mix (.wav/.mp3) into the folder and make a new text file... paste in the below txt and change the names of everything u want to change, including the start time of each track... dont mind the top bit that says "REM DISCID 14117D13
REM COMMENT ExactAudioCopy v0.95b1" just leave it as is. then save the text file as a .cue file... and open the cue file with nero... burns to a track divided disk!!
