Can I use an EMU PROTEUS as MIDi with Ableton Live?

Post by keef » Thu Apr 12, 2007 11:38 am

I'm trying to trigger the sounds from the beautiful sound module that is the EMU PROTEUS 2000 and record them as MIDI DATA to pull the sounds from the sound module but its not working.

I'm using an ibook G4, with a USB cable connecting an M-Audio Oxygen 8 Controller and the output MIDI from the Oxygen 8 is going IN to the EMU module.

Its working fine when i record the sounds from the EMU as AUDIO but i really want them to be MIDI so i can edit them once they are recorded etc...

Thanks for any help

you have to record your MIDI sequence onto a MIDI track, then select the MIDI output of that track to the Oxygen 8 MIDI out port so it will trigger the sounds of the Proteus.

Also make sure that MIDI track is sending data out on the same MIDI channel as the channel set in the Proteus.

Hope this helps
