Sorry, guy... I'm taking the piss out of you.
It's hard to say what the best card is unless you tell us what you need.

absolutely. The big new Apogees look awesome, too! And I am totally in love with the sound of the RME fireface800.

I wonder if anybody uses Metric Halo, their interfaces look very nice and I would guess they would be in the RME league.
Only downside is, i think, is that it's mac only.

The metric halo stuff isn't on par with the RME stuff, in my book. Not at all. The controls on it are great, but the ins/outs aren't enough.

Without a doubt the Scope cards by Creamware. Nothing beats the versatility they offer.

Or their bugs.

Machinate: when you say "the ins/outs aren't enough" re: metric halo, are you talking quality or quantity?
I've got a few friends who tried both and went metric halo, but they also only needed a really good 2in/2out. I've got the RME multiface and I'm pretty happy with it, but I only use 8 outs and 4 ins, so I'm not pushing it hard quantity-wise. (And I'm shopping around for something new, anticipating a macbook in my future...)

In my experience I have never had bugs with my Creamware cards, though some people seem to have. As far as I know it is because of VIA chipsets on the motherboard. But name me a card that is totally foolproof and works on all motherboards trouble free.

How does the sound and preamp quality of the RME fireface/multiface compare with the Motu ultralite and 828?
Same Q goes for the Apogee?

I've upgraded to the Prosonus Firestudio. It's "OK".
I wish I would have saved for the RME
