Hey Tarekith, good looking out with the IKEA bubbly glass ball thing - I just saw these yesterday at our local one
But no, screw that, on monday 6 of these will be arriving here - full music-response maxMSP-controlled RGB goodness:

top that, hambone1!

I love lava lamps, but don't they go limp after a while? The big blobs strart to break up and all, right?jb61264 wrote:Nice Studio mate wish i could still see the walls in mine

link to the lights?...they look really cool, are there multiple colors in each light?...what would be cool is some sort of midi controlled lava liquid thing they used to project to the background of Jimi Hendrix concerts and other 60's psychedelic bands

Yes, one R_ed, one G_reen, one B_lue - RGB - total of 183 huge 10mm LEDS - I read the spec somewhere, they're as bright as a 375watt halogen light bulb - which is pretty fucking bright! And being able to instantly switch colours (they usually do strobing @ 28fps, no filters moving in front of the lights, no dimming etc ) and being able to produce 256^3 colours with each is enough for me to GAS after them!jb61264 wrote:...they look really cool, are there multiple colors in each light?...
Just hook up your favourite mp3 visualizer to a projector. Or get into Jitter.jb61264 wrote:what would be cool is some sort of midi controlled lava liquid thing they used to project to the background of Jimi Hendrix concerts and other 60's psychedelic bands
To get back on topic, I desperately need a bigger space, but on the other hand I'd get sooo sloppy. My studio would look like Tarekiths for less than a week, then it would be ruined...

I've had my lava lamps for liek 14 years now, still working fine. Is that where the ball light came from, Ikea? I got that as a gift, never knew where it was from.

That's funny because in the winter I actually do use mine as hand warmers...LOLMachinate wrote:In this cold climate it doubles as a smooth hand-warmer in the winter time!
Okay, back on topic now...are the blue squares on the ceiling also meant for acoustics?

I use mine to warm my hands too, LOL...
Yes, they are the same as the squares on the wall, just covered in fabric to make thigns a little less dark. One steops reflections coming from my speaker when mixing, the other does the same when DJing. They really do help.
