File Manager won't even open!

Post by BennyB » Fri Apr 13, 2007 5:17 pm

Hi,

i recently upgraded from live 5.2 to live 6.0.5.
I'm facing an issue: i can't open the file management interface!
When i click on "manage files" in the file browser, nothing happens.
I can't replace samples from the clip view either since this procedure is made through file management system.

I tried to: desinstall all live previous versions and libraries,
redirecting custom library path from my internal D: Disk to C:My documents/Ableton as installation procedure intuitively sets it.
Still have the same problem.

Does anybody encounters the same issue?

Help!

Hello,

When selecting 'manage files' in the File menu, you should see some options in the right side of the screen, in the 'lessons' pane. Isn't it the case?

No, and that's the whole problem.

I know file management system is supposed to appear where Live"lessons" or "start guide" pop up first time you run Live.
There is this nice folder icon with stars i've been promised in the manual!

No ,seriously, nothing appears and, it is no surprise then, that when live detects missing audio files in a project, the orange bar at the bottom of live session window which warns " audio files missing.click here to restore(...or whatever it is)" doesn't open file management system either.

Hi,

Does the right panel open at all? What does it show? Otherwise, can you open it by hand? (View menu>lessons)

Not at all

As i told you, the right panel doesn't "open" Nothing but my tracks viewable from the session windowI
it's as if this right panel function wasn't written in the program as nothing opens when i try to open the "lessons" panel which is supposed to sit at the same place!

I can't be more accurate

Then only action related to file management i can reach is that one:
when i right click on a project and choose manage files from there, a green/gray progression bar seems to scan project's files, but this process leads to nothing

Hi,

So, the lessons pane does not open at all. Can you try dragging the mouse on the very right side of the Live interface. the cursor should change into a 'resizing arrow', and you should be able to drag to the left, thus opening the lessons pane.

You should try reinstalling to see if it solves the problem.
