But with Vlaams Belang its better to have good ole weapon control
You also need to deliver an attest of good behaviour and vices..
Come to think of it, I'm probably allowed to get a license.
I still don't feel like its my right and duty to own one though.

Don't get me started on "vlaams belang".
That political party started with saying to the immigrants "Go back to your country".
Now they actually visit those countries and say "Stay here, you're not welcome where we're from".

We're just keeping our eyes on those fuckers and try to not let them get too much power.
They're gaining power at the moment though. But thats mostly because a monarchy is a big pile of royal dung.
Princes spend money like crazy, bring shame to the family..
Pick on that and you gain popularity.
Though we live in a society with a lot of older people..
Old people like kings and queens.
So as long as the population stays gray, we'll probably be able to manage.
It beats leaving it up to diebold machines...

? I never referenced Iraq, but it's not a bad idea, 100k + civs dead there and people will never get a grasp on the gravity of that.

And I'm thinking of MAL-Nutrition (bad - not lack of nutrition) causing heart disease(which is the # killer in the USA), but there are other factors..

On gun control, I was raised to be a good country boy with a knife & a gun, but I've long since outgrown that.

I don't even want a gun for my protection, I'm more afraid I will use it in a situation that I could escape without destroying 2 lives.

At the same time, the guy at VT used 2 handguns that would be considered underpowered by millitary standards.

These weren't assault rifles, and they were possibly stolen (serial numbers wiped off).

I do believe fully automatics and explosives should stay illegal, but nothing is going to be done anytime soon (or probably ever) in the USA to stop the use of semi-automatic weapons.

It's a dead issue that keeps being used by the right to demonize the left.

And, in the USA, the left needs to drop it all together.

There are way more people killed by conservative policies than would be saved by slightly strengthening gun laws.

Indeed....the shooting got the Gonzales hearing pushed back a bit...undoubtedly so he, and his neo-con cohorts, can spend more time constructing their devious lies!

I was pretty freaked out last night surfing through cable in my hotel room....almost every channel was 100% dedicated to rehashing every minute detail. I eventually settled on the History channel's program on Aztec ritual sacrifice and psychedelic heart-ripping practices. If I was going to kill myself and didn't give a fuck, I would want to take out tons of people too...at least you can get worldwide media attention, and even have a real effect on the political process!

Everyone's trying to understand what happened....what was his ethnicity, was he a terrorist, does this mean we should install video cameras everywhere....ok, all there is to understand is that some guy freaked out and killed some people. Its a horrible stupid tragedy no doubt, but that doesn't mean there is much more to it than that. Nobody would want to really address the real underlying problems in our society anyway, so its all lip service anyway, as far as I'm concerned.

Just another page in the file, my friend....just kidding (I hope) 8O

Nah, I was just trying to communicate that I think the media's overblown reaction to all of this unnecessarily magnifies the effects of some guy's sick killing spree, potentially giving somebody who thinks they have nothing to lose a much bigger mouthpiece than they would have otherwise. Of course the media's job is to report the news, but they pick and choose what they blow up to this proportion. It feels to me almost like a celebration of the fact that this guy broke the record for a single day killing spree...its almost a challenge to some other sick person to break the record. Yes, it seems crazy, but then again I think you have to be crazy in a way to do what this kid did.

On another level, America's reaction to 9/11 feels like a similar deal...now the reports come out that the reaction has actually helped out recruitment for terrorists.

Why does the media freak out about this tragedy, but not report as wildly on major political developments such as the Military Commissions Act, Rove's lost emails, etc. There was coverage, but not round-the-clock rehashing of every detail on nearly every channel.

I was watching Nancy Pelosi's daughter's documentary on the Bush 2000 campaign. It was sickening to watch how completely worthless she is as a journalist, and how generally worthless the American mainstream media has become. Bill Moyers is having a very good looking documentary on PBS on April 24th on the selling of the Iraq war, and the media's role in basically assisting by not doing good hard journalism.

While your at it, take them away, so that when someone who has one anyway breaks in to rape your women and children you can stand by helplessly watching as you are rattling off your prized anti-NRA slogans and protesting. Take away the right to defend oneself or one's own family with a firearm and the crime rate will skyrocket. If someone has determined in his/her mind they want to commit a crime, they will find a way to do so, gun or no gun. Don't give them an excuse to do so on someone who can't defend themselves because of a constitutional right being abolished.
We have names for people like you here in Australia.
DICKHEAD
Some guy called Martin Bryant went crazy with a couple of guns 10 years ago and he killed 35 people, including kids and their mothers. Shot em up like it was a turkey shoot. That was a terrible event. We had a gun buy back scheme and heaps of guns were handed in and destroyed. That was a good thing.
Bryant was sort of a loner retard and a DICKHEAD
I didn't really want to comment on this latest sad mass shooting event, but when someone who apparently has respect for all life comes out with such mindless shit about the right to own a gun etc etc

the nationality of the gunman is not really as much the issue as the gun laws that allowed him to get the guns that killed the people

why dont you people who say you need guns just be honest about it - all of us out here in the rest of the world have no problems without them, so you know in your heart of hearts it's not really about protection and safety - you know there's no feasible way you can argue that when you have that many gun deaths a year and we dont

so BE HONEST!

Just say why - it's because you like the big bang sound isnt it?

but if that strange primitive seduction results in your kids getting shot to death before they're even finished school then it's not really a buzz that's worthwhile is it?

That is what some from of the "blame it on the guns" fan club are too ignorant to see. It's such a simple truth. If your an American and hate it, then leave or shut up. The sad fact is that a lot of those who slam this nation have had loved ones or know someone who has served in order to attempt to defend the freedom they despise. Go live under communism for 10 years or so then come back and tell me how things are going with you and your loved ones.
BTW, Hitler took guns from the people before he went off on his little power trip. Also, look at crime stats for Australia before and after arms were taken away from the people. Sorry, I'm not much of a fan of celebrity rants and no, I don't own a ford or fit any of your petty biases for people who value their freedom and differ from you in view and opinion. That's the very division that I addressed earlier.
