VCI-100 or Kontrol DJ?

Just wondering which is the best?

In terms of durability and extensibility.

Would love a Xone:3D but not enough ££££

VCI hands down! I personally can't wait for this device to show up at the local shop. I've read that it's made of solid steel versus the majority of other controllers that are made of cheap plastic.

I'd imagine the VCI will do well for Vestax. It's a little bigger than I had wished for (it's bigger than my macbook!) but also several hundred dollars cheaper than I had thought it would be! Aside from it's size it's pretty much perfect for me to use with Traktor. Not sure how it'll work for Live but I'd imagine that's more up to me and how I set it up.

Of course, the case can be made that both the Kontrol and VCI are simply toys and that a real DJ uses vinyl or saves there moiney and buys something like the Xone 3d to impress there friends as it's a "real" mixer. Whatever. If you have the tunes and actually learn how to make something like the VCI work for you, no doubt you can have a killer set with it both in the studio ("live mixes) oir in a club atmosphere.

Something I think is extremely important in dj-controllers are long pitch faders. I havent come across any that seem to have that. Just remember how long the pitch control is on a Technics 1200. It needs to be that long to make precise adjustments when mixing. I tried the BCD2000 and the pitchfaders were useless in traktor, jumping 0,3-0,5 bpm when moving it.

Can you not change the range of pitch though, much like the way the CDJ's work, where you can select 10%, 6%, 100% etc..

In traktor the smallest is +/- 8. I guess you could map a couple of buttons to fine pitch though..
