Head over to KVR-VST and poke around some.

Start with the fabulous Crystal.

I second that, Greenoaks Crystal is great.

4Front has an awsome piano.

But do your self a favor and buy a Zeba (u-he)

Enjoy !

Anyone else got any gems...!

www.osxaudio.com has a huge list of all the AU and VSTs. You should be able to find plenty of free plugs from Destroy Effects and Digital Fish Phones.

I have a question about Crystal.

I know this started as a Mac thread, but I am using PC, using Sonar or FruityLoops Producer to record samples that I make. I downloaded Crystal awhile ago, but just yesterday downloaded some of the banks and was playing with it (it does sound freakishly amazing for free!). But....

I get alot of audio drop outs whenever I load it, or switch patches. These go away with time (in about a minute), but seem to happen initially when I am playing chords or anything with too many notes.

I know I am on PC, and perhaps the first thing people will say is that is the problem, but I have no problems with Synth1 or TriangleII doing this, and also check the sig before you say I don't have enough power, and lastly, no viruses or spyware (use avant anti-virus and Ad-aware.)

Thanks in advance for any help.....just wondering whether maybe I should re-download and re-install.

This happens to on Mac with other VSTi's. Usually when I'm holding notes. Something to do with note offs. I don't have a good answer for you drop Glenn a line. But how the weather on that side of the East River ? Or are you in fact on THIS side ?

All NYC users should get together and exchange ideas ! Lets do this after L4... :P

Loophead,

Actually right now I am downtown, Financial District area. I agree, it would be awesome and informative for NYC LIVE users to get together, there a bunch of us if I am not incorrect.

Think you might be right about the note-offs, but it seems to go away over time (keeping one patch on).

LIVE4 is going to be a godsend as right now I am using Sonar with VSTis and LIVE rewired to sync up the samples that I create. Too long and arduous a process if LIVE4 is going to be what it seems......Here's hoping.

Where are you?

I haven't had this happen on my Mac, I would ask this question on the Crystal Yahoo group.

Crystal, of course. and the Ambience reverb from smart electronix is sick too. and the Zoyd AU is a beat of a synth.

Thanks, yeah I just signed up for the crystal users-group. I think I will post it there, even though I sent Glenn an email from gmail account.

It seemed like this happened to one other person running crystal on Mac. I will probably just re-download and re-install.....

I am hoping that will fix it....and it is nothing more than that....will verify again with synth1, reaktor, triangleII, and absynth.
