Post by Don Don » Sun Apr 15, 2007 10:51 am

Hi I wonder if you can help in advices for my next lap top, I am looking at a sony dual processor only as its cheap (£500) not for any known technical reasons. I haev dropped my current one and it takes a few attempts to start it up as I think I have done something to the Hard Drive! Doh!

Thanks for your help. Oh and it has to be a PC im affraid.

If possible damage to the onboard hdd is all the damage you think there may be then why not just buy a new hdd?

If the screen is ok and it still performs ok then keep using it.

If you buy a new laptop, make sure it has a Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, unless you have a very limited budget.

500 punds for a new Sony sounds cheap indeed. Be careful to check out the specs.

question: aren't desktops better in a way, since they can have much higher-res screens?
laptops usually arent higher than 1068x or so.. its nicer to have more screen space.
are there any pc laptops or macbooks with high-res screens?

Laptop resolutions can be 1600+ resolution, just be prepared to pay for that if you're interested. Several hundred $ more typically. Well worth it my opinion as having the extra real estate is nice!

17" MacBook Pro FTW.

I love mine to bits, and it really isn't that big even when taking to gigs. A little big for economy on an airplane, but that's about it.

Size matters :)
