ableton and 1920x1200 screen resolution

Post by MM303 » Mon Apr 23, 2007 9:59 am

hello,

I'm running ableton (v6) with a screen resoultion of 1920x1200
the graphic performance is really slow on my computer, the cursor stops a few times, if you move it over the screen. even if there's no cpu load.

my graphic card is a matrix p650 with 64mb

I never experienced a problem like that in any other programs.
do you think a better graphic card with more memory will solve that problem?

thanks,
mat.

Do you have a lot of clips or midi notes in the project?

no, not much clips...

if I switch back the resolution to 1280x1024 it works much better...

I suspect that your video card isn't able to handle such a large screen without some help from the rest of the computer, and is fighting with Live for system resources.

Have you tested any other applications while running in 1920x1200? Specifically, ones that would also tax your CPU, RAM and hard drive?

yes, cubase is working fine... also under heavy load...

but I found out, that the ableton gui makes use of direct draw, and all other applications don't... maybe that's the reason.. I think It's time to buy a new computer.
