I've tried Ableton 4, 5 and 6, two different sound cards, fresh XP install, and STILL, everything is out of sync. The more I mess around in ableton (all versions) the more it gets out of sync (it always starts with 6 ms delay). If I restart, it's back to 6 ms. I've tried with only one vst installed, I've tried with operator. The soundcard (Audiophile 2496) has been working great for years, but not any longer, and I need to get some work done (the label wants the master).

Airbase,

I was curious about your problem and read on a Cubase (shiver) forum about a gent that had the same issue. Below is the link - something about IRQ's and number of devices the USB is hosting. May not be it, but something to try - good luck!

at the risk of looking silly, i'll just ask: you have selected the right audio driver for Live? (ASIO)

i had problems with cubase and live after a power cut, everything was out of sync (effects and my midi keyboard was delayed), it was just that my computer for some reason decided to allocate the standard driver to all the software - i just had to re-specify that i wanted asio for cubase and also for live

Yeah, the right ASIO is selected :)

Anyhow, I pulled out my IDE controller card, and put the backup disks in another computer backing up over my network. That sorted out most of the problems I had, so IRQ sounds to be what caused it. Spectrasonics products are still out of sync though.
