Problem using 2 midi controllers

Post by hrowe » Wed Apr 25, 2007 12:08 am

Macbook 1.83ghz OSX 10.4.9
Live 6.07

When I try to use 2 UC-33 controllers simultaneously, Live will only respond to the one connected to the port next to the firewire port.

If I use only 1 controller, Live will respond to it - in either usb port. As soon as 2 are plugged in, Live only responds to 1 controller, despite being recognized in Lives midi preference window. Using the same controllers in my Powerbook results in no problems.

I tried a usb hub and the problem remains.

Any ideas? I have an important show approaching and need both controllers!!!

Do you have each set to a different MIDI channel?

Yes, but it doesn't matter if it's the same channel or not - same result.
It seems to be an Intel Mac midi problem as I have the identical result when using Bidule.

Argh. I can't believe no one else has this problem. Perhaps it's because I'm using 2 controllers of the same type?

UPDATE - yes, it seems to be an issue with using 2 controllers of the same type. When I switch one of the controllers to a different type, it functions as expected. I guess I'll have to use one of the UC-33s midi outputs to get into my Mac...
