No audio asio input using kx drivers

Hi all, i apologise in advance if this question has been asked and answered before. I did have a quick look..
I've just started using ableton, its a cool program for sure but I can't get any asio audio input into it using the kx drivers. I can get direct x input but with a huge time lag. I've never had any problem getting asio sound from my mixing desk into adobe audition but i need to make the move to ableton because audition is hopeless for midi work.
At the moment i have to record my audio tracks (via a little home mixer) in audition then export them into ableton and vise versa with the midi. What a hassle, especially considering sometimes ableton takes WAY to long to render it's tracks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I'm not aware of the kx device, can you link to a page where it is described? Also, make sure you have installed the latest ASIO driver for it.

Hi, The kx driver was designed for creative cards and i'm running it as a better driver for my audigy 2 card, it's been tried and tested on this card and i've been running it for several years using audition. I have also tested it on cubase and it works (although i don't like cubase unfortunately) The kx site is http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php?language=en
I suspect that it is a problem with my configuration of the kx driver so if you are not familiar with this driver i can understand if you cannot solve this problem. Any feedback would be great.

Hi,

Unfortunately, I am not at all familiar with that driver. You should try two things: write to [email protected], providing all of the info asked for on that page:
http://www.ableton.com/pages/support_contact

And also, contact the people who make this driver and ask them if they could test it with Live (they can use the demo for that).

i have another question. Sometimes when i try to render tracks down it can take a really long time. For example, i have several soft synths including battery and the NI grand piano. Because i still can't record audio into ableton i need to bounce these midi tracks to audio to import them into audition. So i try doing them one at a time. I specify i want the grand piano track to bounce down to a stereo track. Simple, only it takes about 45 minutes to render this single track! It is excruciating considering that sometimes it will render a same length track using the same softsynth in less then a minute. I've even tried creating a new live set and only having this softsynth in it just incase it's overloading my system. It doesn't seem to make any difference. The fact that the live sets play no problems at all on my system seem to suggest that it is not that i am just pushing it too far, in fact i have been very moderate with my cpu, never getting it past aorund 15%.

hi

i use audigy2 and asio4all driver i think it same as kx project... i mute line in and use mic in... and i get which running in line in...

i think try asio4all its better than kx...

I uninstalled the kx drivers (this is a big step since i've been totally happy with these drivers since i've had the card). After installing the asio4all driver with YouP-PAX, i now have audio in to Ableton! I'm not convinced that the audio in is as good a quality as the kxdriver but for now i'll be sticking with it. Thanks for the advice, Unfortunately for me i dropped my midi keyboard yesterday and now it's not working!
