Wave Idea/CME Bitstream 3X, with ribbon controller

Post by philipc » Tue May 01, 2007 12:51 pm

These things look nice and theres been a lot of threads on them but none mentioning the ribbon controller element. I have a feeling this might be a new feature since CME took over distribution for Wave Idea, though I could be wrong.

well, the first iterations of this had a D-beam type of gizmo in the upper right hand corner instead, if I'm not mistaken...

I think they "should have" had a D-beam controller on them.
At least it "is" mentioned in the manual.
I think they removed the D-beam thing in favor for a ribbon controller to drop the price, but somehow failed to change the manual.

The d-beam has been replaced by the ribbon once CME started the distribution of the bitstream 3X.

From what I heard, CME preferred to replace the D-Beam due to Roland patents, and since the distribution over US was handled by Yamaha.

btw, my Bitstream 3X features a ribbon controller, it is very nice to use, also the hold button that allows to lock the ribbon value is very well thinked !
