re best software to maintain macs

hi, I've gotta question for mac users.

what software do you use to maintain your system?

for example, I have a friend who's a successful video editor in LA (emmy's, an oscar, etc). on his home systems (quad g5s) he uses xupport and disk warrior,
and has no problems. these systems are dedicated systems however (i.e. no itunes, email etc on them).

ableton live is the most stable of my music programs, but I get crashes when using others in conjunction, e.g. logic pro and pro tools.
