what I have to do if no dry/wet parameter is present?

Post by Mauro Alpha » Thu May 10, 2007 4:42 pm

Ciao guys,

i think that ableton have a lot of effects that are very cool but a lot of them does not have the dry/wet functions, and the only way to use it is to enable or disable the effect.

For example the grain delay is cool but it doesn't have it d/w..

nobody know if is possible use the d/w function, for example building an effect rack?

thanks a lot

mauro

ps: sorry if my english is not perfect :)

Another option is to put the device on a return track. The send control on the audio track now will act like a wet-dry. If the device you're using HAS a wet/dry effect, set it to 100% wet if you are using sends/returns. Note that this method differs than the rack method in the sense you get ALL the original track, plus the amount of the wet effect on the send.

The grain delay does in fact have a wet/dry control. It's the bottom square underneath feedback (I love this device!)

Drop a utility plug in on the return track in front of what ever effect you are using, for example Grain Delay. Turn the phase reverse buttons on (bottom of the Utility plug) for both the Left and Right channels. Now when you open the Send to that channel you slowly phase reverse and cancel out the original signal until at 100% and its 100% wet signal.

by the way it's not 100% phased out if you try to phase it out with no effect present you can still hear about 10% of original sound... it's ok tho when you do add the effect you can't hear it.

With what method are you talking about?

I am able get 100% cancellation on my system by sending to a return track with a utility plug inserted pre any other FX. (FX off of course) Does this work for anyone else?
