set tempo by recorded clip

Post by bondegakken » Fri May 11, 2007 7:02 pm

is there any way I can record a clip without quantifitation, and make Live set the tempo by the length of it?

For example. I'm playing live, and I'm gonna record a phrase of 2 bars, but scinnse we're not playing in a spesific tempo, i can't preset a tempo to record in. The tempo should in this situation automaticly ble set by the length of the clip, so it maches 2 bars. This is a option most samplers have. Can I do this in Live?

Yes. First, read up on the Warp feature for clips. Drop your clip in, and change the warp to be 2 bars. Set the tempo of your song to the warped tempo on the clip. You could then turn Warp off on the clip, and it should be two bars long.
My life is spent in one long effort to escape the commonplaces of existence.
