Compatability with Waves VSTfx plugz

Post by P220ST » Fri May 11, 2007 11:03 pm

I got this odd reply on another issue from Waves sales support (edited):
I would also recommend that you look at the free version of Cubase that came with your Firebox. Ableton deviates from the VST spec, and unless you are aspiring to be a DJ or live performance remix artist, Cubase is a much more robust platform to compose and mix in.

Does this make any sense to anyone? Is there any problem using Live 6! w/ VST plug-ins?

Well, Live certainly deviates from the conventions of recording MIDI but I'm not aware of deviations from the VST standard, unless Waves is referring to the cap on the number of VST parameters (128, I think) you can access in Live.

Waves plugins aren't officially supported on Live but I have actually had no problems at all running the Platinum bundle under Win XP SP1 with Live 5.2.2.
