i need a speak n spell text to speech app

Post by The Phat Conductor » Sat May 12, 2007 2:52 am

i'm found a bunch of good circuitbending/speak n spell samples i'm using in this new tune i'm working on, but i really need a text to speech program to finish the job. bring limited to only the original words is no fun...

does such a program exist?

yeh there are loads of semi-descent ones on freeware, i use deskbot which has got some quite nice editing bits, but unfortunately doesnt convert to wav, you have to record the audio from ur computer and then route it back in again... if you search text to wav freeware on google you're bound to find some that bounce to wav tho, i used to have one on my old computer...

love your tutorials and tips btw, my liveset wouldn't be quite what it is without some of your tricks :D

i'm not just talking about a text to speech. i'm talking about an emulation of te famous speak n spell texas instruments voice from the 80s.

I asked this same question a while back.

How bad would a VST Speak n' Spell be!

I ended up using Fruity Loops for this. It has a text to udio effect in there that is customizable...

But - c'mon! How hard can it me to make a VST (even circuit bent) Speak n' Spell?

Got one!

Speak & Spell

I had to practically learn to read Japanese to get this!

Damn - I don't think we are gonna find an app that will do text-to-speech in the same voice as the Speak & spell...

you really can't go wrong with the speak n spell... it always sounds so crunchy and awesome!

I found 3 or 4 really great sounding software versions - but none that would say what you typed in. Splicing phonemes is hard work...

But let me know how you get on - I only really want the word "PATCH"...

(D and J are sorted!)

I am sure I had a programme for this on both my old Sega sc3000 and Amiga 500.
