Who sued who over constitutional rights and won?

First off, right-wingers are hypocritical jerks who will, post-hoc, mold any fact to fit their worldview.

With that out of the way, the reason internet people are taking pleasure at this is two-fold:

1) Most frequent posters on the internet are (psuedo, of course) totally-edgy-iconoclast types. It would not take much in real life to shame them. Even a little genuine experience and character will generally accomplish it, in my experience.

2) Leftists, just like rightists, "post-hoc" things to fit their motives all the time. Put simply: compassion is valid for "sideists" or "zealots" when it serves their ends. When it does not, they are revealed for the self-interested jackals they are.

Oh, one more thing. Most of the people who are jumping up and down are doing so because it has been suggested to them by the people they take cultural cues from.

anyone that takes pleasure in another human beings death is a sick person right or left. hitler killed 6 million people and that is one thing. people at guantanamo did not kill 6 million people, and this man did not either. to be happy about a persons death is sickness.

yup yup. too many people in this world think "hate is a terrible thing... but it's ok to hate someone if they are a christian or something."

There's no need to split hairs with Falwell. He was a bigot and a hypocrite of the highest order. He was hater wrapped in the bible and anyone with half a brain can see it for themselves. I'm sure Saint Peter said; No way. Btw, falwell had no respect for human life either. A real intolerant fuck he was.

so what you're saying is that everyone is celebrating because everyone else is celebrating.

so it's ok to hate someone as long as you deem them worthy of being hated?

Of course not. I don't hate falwell and I don't celebrate his death, but I celebrate a little death for his ideals. Falwell spreads hate and he is certainly someone to fight against hatred and intolerance. I think most of the posters who revel in his death are actually expressing a win against hatred and not the death of a human being. I have zero respect and 100% contempt for what the man stands for. We want to believe that his ideals have died with him but of course there's plenty more where he came from. Death to intolerance.

awesome man, good to hear. although to be totally honost I don't know much about the dude. I was just trying to make the point that hatred is never ok even if it's a real a**hole.

from the video above I can see that he's got his ideals but I didn't get a vibe from him that he had no respect for human life as others have mentioned, he just has his beliefs on how terrorism should be handled and I might disagree with him but that doesn't mean he's a total as*hole. although he might be.

You amreicans make no sence. You defend the torture of terrorists that might want to kill you and then have a party at a persons death that you say spreads hate. You can not spread hate more than al qaeda. they are the best at it and stand for your death.

any time someone says "you americans...." I just blank out everything else they say and wonder when it started being ok to lump an entire country into one stereotype.

also, when someone says "you americans" and can't even spell it correctly it really makes me wonder.
