Rendering in chunks

Post by Shane Little » Mon May 14, 2007 4:43 pm

After I render my dj set, I then open in soundforge to master it and it is opening it in chunks. I mean like 10min gaps in the set. This is the first time this has happened out of the three sets I've mixed in the last couple months. I have tried to re-render from scratch too to no avail.

Also, as soon as I open the file, SF tells me that an 'illegal sample loop has been found and corrected'. Any clues?

If you render it again, are the holes in the same place? If so look for stray automation in arrangement view. Are the gaps edges sharp, or is the sound fading in and out. Make sure to check for any automation in the master channel that shouldn't be there (ie volume, or speaker on/off).

Are you using any 3rd party plugins?

I've seen that warning come up many times in Sound Forge but don't know where it's coming from. It never seemed to have an effect on the end result though.

Are you spying on my comp?! The gaps are sharp edges and if I remember seem to be located the same each time. However this morning I did another remdering and when SF opened the file there was NOTHING there. Odd. I'll look around a bit more let you know what I find.

Also, I got that warning from SF everytime I've imported an Ableton rendering and don't seem to have any issues either.

OK. I checked my current automation settings and I found nothing suspect on the volume side... I'm just gonna erase it I think and remix it from scratch. Dunno what else to do at this point.

Are the parts that are missing, whole tracks? Or loop sections, not just random chunks?

Are you playing the whole set with each track in the same mode? I.e. Beats, Complex etc?

From what I remember it was random chunks. Honestly it could have been certain tracks but I didn't really pay that close attention since I was kinda pissed.

Yes I use complex to warp all of my tracks.

Thanks for the reply!
